My second largest possession (treadmill) was successfully moved into the new apartment today. Tomorrow my power and gas get shut off in my old place (shudder) and switched on in the new (shudder x2). In addition the phone and DSL will also get killed in the old place and switched on in the new place (shudder x3).

All of this is happening a little too fast for my liking, but what ya gonna do.

But soon enough I’ll be living in a place with a lot more room.

Now I can look forward to other things, like getting a couch. Maybe an easy chair, too? Good stuff. :-) Nothing too fancy.. but something that looks nice and is comfy. It won’t be a right-now thing, but it’ll happen soon enough.

. . .

This is a time that brings me closer to where I want to be.

And where do I want to be?

As far as location goes (Florida), yeah, I’m at that place obviously.

As far as the dwelling is concerned, I want a level of self-sufficiency that I’m comfortable with. Being that I will be in a place that has a washer/dryer hookup, that’s a really big deal. In fact it is the largest reason I’m upgrading apartments to begin with. Simply put, if my studio apartment had a washer/dryer in it, I wouldn’t bother moving.

As far as fiscal matters are concerned, I want my truck and cards paid off in full before I’m 35 – and I’m bound and determined to make that happen. It will happen.

As far as future dwelling is concerned, I want a house. Yes, here in Florida. I’ve been researching this for some time and yes, it’s do-able – but not now. The key thing concerning the home is that I absolutely do not want to get slammed into massive debt just for the privilege of being a homeowner. Too many homeowners have had to foreclose just for that reason and I don’t want to be one of them.

. . .

The funny thing about all this is that my plan has basically been the same since 1997-ish; it hasn’t changed.

What has changed is the the location. Moving to Florida the best thing I ever did, hands down. Here I am just a hair under two years later, and I’m still kickin’.

And more often than I admit, I’m still.. well.. shocked that things are happening the way I want them to. Why it’s seemingly so much simpler to do things in FL compared to CT is beyond me, but I’m not complaining. Nuh-uh. :-)
