Linda Vaughn and the “Hurstettes”, 1975Feb 3, 2009
Linda Vaughn (who surprisingly does not have a Wikipedia entry) was known as “The First Lady of Drag Racing” but her most famous title was “Miss Hurst Golden Shifter”. Wherever there was a race, be it NASCAR, Formula One and of course the Indianapolis 500, she was there as the trophy queen. The photo seen here was sent to me by Robert Schiely and yes, that is a 1975 Buick Century Pace Car Linda and the “Hurstettes” are standing in front of. You can click on that photo to get a larger size. Hot girls and hot cars have a longstanding tradition of being seen with each other, and the ’75 Buick Free Spirit Century was definitely not left out. Buicks and babes go together quite nicely, thank you very much. :-) You can read up more about Linda here.
