Jane Jetson was a teenage slut

nice ass

TV trivia time.

It's amazing the little bits of trivia I come across on this big machine we call the internet.

As a kid I watched a lot of cartoons, which of course included The Jetsons. That show was a flip-flop of The Flintstones where instead of being based in the past it was in the future.

Jetsons, which originally started to air in 1962 came after Flintstones which first aired in 1959. However it was Jetsons that was the very first color program aired on ABC television.

There is one and only one episode where Jane, the wife, states how old she is. It's in the very first episode and she says she's 33. Well, this is a bit shocking because Judy, her teenage daughter, is 16 and everyone knows this.

This means Jane had Judy when she was 17. She was probably knocked up at 16, had Judy at 17 and most likely married George the same year before Judy was born in a shotgun wedding. If I recall correctly you are allowed to marry at 17 in some if not all states if at least one of you is over 18. George is 40 in the show, meaning he had to have married Jane when he was 24.

The really crazy part about this is that the show premiered in 1962, a time when families in America had very rigid structures and was well before the hippie era of the later 60s. Even the idea of a teenage mom in 1962 was unthinkable at the time, yet there it is in The Jetsons.

Oh, and the image? That's originally from here (you'll need a DeviantArt account to see it), and it showed up when I did an image search for "Jane Jetson" - even with the moderation filter turned on.
