one of the reasons i moved out of connecticut
Here are some "highlights" concerning the weather for next week in Connecticut. You can read the entire thing if you want. I'm just posting the biggies. I marked the really interesting stuff in red. 🙂
(Note: Apologies for the all caps, that's the way NOAA writes out weather reports)
(Also note to non-US visitors: The degrees are in F)
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
454 PM EDT SAT JUL 29 2006DANGEROUS HEAT AND HUMIDITY EXPECTED TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY
THE HEAT WILL REALLY KICK INTO FULL GEAR ON TUESDAY. HIGHS SHOULD TOP
OUT IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S ACROSS MOST LOCATIONS. HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL RESULT IN DANGEROUS HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 100 AND 105 DEGREES DURING THE AFTERNOON.WEDNESDAY LOOKS TO BE THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE WEEK. HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM BETWEEN 96 AND 102 DEGREES. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS HEAT INDEX VALUES OF BETWEEN 105 AND 110 DEGREES ARE EXPECTED!
The "happy medium" in southern New England (for me at least) is between 74° and 82° - which is a rarity to begin with. Anything over 82 and it's just sticky and nasty outside. When the temp gets over 95, that's when it really starts to get on your nerves. Air conditioners work overtime, no one goes outside unless they absolutely have to, and as noted above it's just plain dangerous.
In Florida, 90 degree days are common, however, it won't kill you. 🙂 You can walk outside quite comfortably when it's over 90 and not be miserable - or cause yourself harm just by being outside.
I read the weather reports from time to time where I grew up just to see what's happening in the skies over there. I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a sense of relief knowing that I'm here in FL and not in CT. 🙂
