2012 Squier Bullet HH FSR demo and review

It's NGD (New Guitar Day) at the Menga stronghold. Gone is the Surf Strat and has been replaced with the Squier Bullet HH:

Squier Bullet HH in 2-Tone Sunburst

A few things out of the way up front.

It's probably true you've only seen this guitar in black, as in black body with black pick guard. There are in fact two other colors available, Candy Apple Red and 2-Tone Sunburst (pictured above).

The red and sunburst are only available through Guitar Center as FSR (Fender Special Run), and that's when Fender only sells a specific guitar through a specific retailer, which in this instance is Guitar Center.

Black is available just about anywhere, but for the red and sunburst finishes, you have to buy them through Guitar Center.

Here's my video demo of the guitar (if you've already seen this video on YouTube, scroll down for the review video):

And here's the video review of the guitar (you'll learn a lot about it and it's totally worth watching):

jumping spiders

I recently have become familiar with another type of Florida bug, the jumping spider, plexippus variety.

These little spiders are less than 15mm long (very small), don't make webs and literally start hopping around if you get near one. They're considered "helper" spiders because they actually help get rid of pests. More info here on that (about half way down the page).

It is the weirdest thing to see a little spider start hopping instead of crawling. Hop, hop, hop, hop, hop. They jump around like rabbits. Sometimes they get in my place but it's no big deal. Even before I knew they were harmless, I wasn't threatened by them because they just don't look or act threatening at all.

Jumping spiders are like the Chihuahuas of the spider world. Small, cute, fast and a bit on the hyper side.

More music and more tutorials coming soon

Some quick updates.

Yes, there are new songs coming soon. There's a certain piece of equipment I'm waiting on before I can release the new stuff. As for what that equipment is, it's a secret. 🙂 Soon enough the secret will be revealed.

Part of the reason for the delay other than the wait on that certain piece of equipment is some good old fashioned computer nonsense. I recently had to switch computers and load all the software I do for audio, video and blogging stuff. Big pain in the ass. If you've ever switched computers you know exactly what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter how carefully prepare for it, because there's always something missing when all is said and done with. For example I went to burn a DVD and oops, I forgot to install ImgBurn. That software is free, easy and works great, but that was one of several software titles I forgot to put on My Big List Of Computer Crap I Need To Install. Like I said, it takes a few weeks before you have your computer set up the way you want it, whether it's Windows, Mac, Linux, tablet or whatever. And as far as that "sync all your apps and you'll never have to remember to install something again", that's a joke. Computers no matter what they look like are still very manually-involved things.

Of the new things released, there will be some more of "Rich's Bad Guitar Lessons". Many players really like that set of videos I did, so I'll be doing some more. I make a point to explain things simply while at the same time being informative. Sometimes that's tough to pull off, but I do my best to get a proper mix simple + informative so at the end you've learned something that makes you a better player.

On a side note, the reason I call it "Rich's Bad Guitar Lessons" is the same reason in my early videos I said Squier guitars sound "like crap", "can't stay in tune", "can't do metal" and so on. I purposely used titles that described the opposite of what was actually in the video just as a fun thing. With the lessons, nobody in their right mind would label their stuff as "bad", which to me was all the more reason to call them that. I personally think it's funny.

Anyway, that's what's on the table currently. More music and more lessons coming soon. And you'll see the secret piece of equipment revealed very soon as well. 🙂
