Hot tip: Don't leave your DV cable plugged into your camcorder.
Why? My camcorder fell over while it was on the tripod (don't ask), the FireWire cable was still plugged into it, it landed on the side the cable was plugged into (of course), and busted the DV port.
Blah.
Solution: Waste $215 and buy a new camcorder. The one I bought is a JVC GR-D350US (pictured above). Compared to the old Canon ZR-200, this one has a ton more features, plus a cool little "snapshot" button to take pics with.
Honestly speaking, it's amazing what you get for the price these days. This should last a long time as long as I leave the FireWire cable out when not in use. 🙂

gerald ford is eaten by wolves
Gerald Ford died yesterday. When I found out about it, the first thing I thought of was the Saturday Night Live skit with Dana Carvey playing Tom Brokaw, where it's said that Gerald Ford died by being shot, committing suicide by jumping out of an office building, overdosing from crack-cocaine, chopped into little bits from the propeller of a commuter plane, mauled senselessly by a circus lion in a convenience store, and of course, eaten by wolves.
The skit is funny. Check it out. And it's sad that the skit was the first thing I thought about when President Ford died.
Yeah, I know. Shame on me.

I was reminded today (yet again) that I have a small bump directly in the middle of my forehead. Now that I've brought it to your attention, I suppose you want to take a closer look at it, so be my guest.
Anyway..
Because of the reminder I've finally decided to get rid of it. Been meaning to do this for a long time. I actually have two bumps. One is easy to spot (especially considering the fact I'm talking about it, so you'll be looking for it), and the other is above my left eye, so I might as well get rid of both of them if I can.
Everyone I know personally always has the same reaction whenever I speak of the bump, to the tune of I never actually noticed until you pointed it out... This is true. However, some people notice it right away, and the worst part is that they think it's a pimple, which it isn't.
The bump didn't really start to be noticeable until my late twenties. It started out as very small, then turned into what it is now over the years. I don't know how much it will cost to remove it, but I can't see it being more than 200 dollars at most.
My only fear is that once removed, will it turn into a dent? Not sure on that one. So what's worse? A bump or a dent? The answer is bump. A bump looks like a pimple; a dent doesn't. Lots of people I know have dents. On the attractiveness scale, a dent is more acceptable than a bump. Small dents, that is.
In any case, I'm going to get some info on this and see when I can have this done. Hopefully it will be painless, both on my forehead and on my wallet.

Norlin era Gibsons are some of the worst guitars Gibson ever made. Find out why.
This is not that big of a deal once you know how to do it.
Guitar string recommendation for Squier and Fender Stratocaster guitars
24.75" scale electric guitars and other models down to the 24.0" scale.
When it comes to ready-to-mod guitars, it doesn't get much better than this.
It's real-deal Fender vintage, it's available, and there's one other rather nice advantage to owning one of these.
When you want a Bigsby vibrato on a genuinely well-built guitar for not a lot of money, you go Gretsch.
There is a whole lot of wow to this Les Paul.
Is this a classic, or is it tacky? Let's talk about that.
